We are coming, New York

When sitting in a crowded classroom, I dream of something grander than sitting and staring at a whiteboard all day. I dream of traveling to the big apple and the great white north.  In exactly 4 days I am sitting on a plane on my way to NYC with the rest of my class. But first, I have so much to do before we go.  I must find a suitcase, select my clothes, and pack, and for those who think THAT is a cakewalk – Think again. But even though it is a long and tough procedure to get ready, I can hardly wait.
This trip is going to be a blast, especially since I am traveling with some of the funniest and sweetest people I have ever met, and I cannot imagine a better bunch of people to enjoy the adventures of New York and Canada with. It is going to be great to salute lady liberty again and read Emma Lazarus’s poem that is engraved on the statue, which means much more to me after working with it in class. I can almost imagine how the poor immigrants were filled with hope and relief, when they saw the statue for the first time. But one of the things that I am desperately missing from my everyday life, and so looking forward to, is the feel of the big city. I love the feeling of being a place where a million things are happening, and where you can witness history and be a part of it. Just by thinking of our journey, a huge wave of urge to travel is hitting me. MOMA, Harlem, Times Square, and Central park are screaming out my name.
-          Just you wait New York, we are coming.
